The girl’s mother stated that she noticed the smell of bleach from a breakfast smoothie that the girl had made. The mother initially thought the glass was just not rinsed well after being cleaned. The mother smelled bleach in another instance when she had poured herself a glass of water from a pitcher in her room. The mother confronted the girl and reportedly learned that the girl was trying to kill her. The girl was taken into custody and is currently being held at a juvenile center on two count of attempted murder.

Because the girl is a minor, it will need to be determined whether she will face charges as a child or as an adult. The outcome of that decision will play a considerable role in how the situation moves forward. The situation may be difficult for the girl to understand due to being so young, and it may be wise for her to consider legal assistance as her situation moves forward. If she wants to defend against the allegations, information on criminal defense strategies and proceedings in Colorado may be helpful.
