Some individuals may be accused of criminal activity even when a situation could potentially have been an accident. In cases where individuals are charged with child abuse, those parties may wish to ensure that all the relevant information surrounding an alleged incident is heard. Therefore, individuals may wish to work on creating and presenting a meaningful criminal defense against such allegations.

One woman in Colorado may feel the need to take such action after being charged. It was reported that the woman allegedly had her 11-month-old daughter in a bathtub with a 2-year-old. The woman apparently left the two children alone, and when she returned to the tub, the younger child was under the water. The child was unresponsive and later died.

As a result of the circumstances, the woman was taken into custody. She is currently facing a felony charge for child abuse that resulted in death. At the time of the report, she was being held in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail. It was unclear whether she had any legal representation, but it was noted that she was due in court to hear the charges being brought against her.

Losing a child in understandably devastating, and when the situation also leads to criminal charges for child abuse, a mother may feel at a loss as to how to handle the situation. However, individuals in this type of situation have legal options to consider. Creating a meaningful defense against the allegations may help the woman work toward a favorable outcome, and information on Colorado criminal proceedings relating to her case may prove beneficial.
