A stretch of Colorado highway was apparently the recent scene of two separate accidents on the same day. Authorities say they had just re-opened the road after the first incident when the second crash occurred. A driver in the second collision is suspected of DUI and has been arrested.

Two cars were involved in the first crash when one allegedly ran into the back of the other. Four people were said to have been injured and were transported to various hospitals for treatment. Shortly after the road was once again opened to traffic, the second collision occurred.

Police claim the motorist who has been deemed responsible crashed into three different vehicles but kept driving. Officers allegedly pursued the man in a vehicle chase. The chase reportedly came to an abrupt halt when the man’s vehicle crashed again. The wreckage at the scene was so serious that the highway had to be shut down again, this time for at least five hours.

There were no serious injuries in the second collision. Although the man was arrested and it has been reported that he is suspected of DUI, it is not yet known what formal charges he may be facing. Many times, it is possible for someone facing drunk driving charges in Colorado to avoid severe penalties by presenting a strong defense in court. A criminal attorney would be able to guide a person accused of this crime through the process of building a thorough and effective defense. A first logical step to take to obtain such guidance would be to contact a criminal lawyer to discuss the situation.
