Colorado school bus driver charged with child abuse

Parents and members of the community do not expect school bus drivers to be charged with child abuse, but it does happen occasionally. Recently, a Colorado school bus driver was charged with child abuse after he allegedly assaulted a student. The incident happened on a Friday afternoon on board the school bus.

According to reports, a student cut the line for the bus, ignoring fellow students who were waiting to board the bus. School workers informed the student that he would need to get off the bus and let the other students enter. However, the student failed to listen and reportedly began to curse out the school employees. The school bus driver got involved and convinced the student to get off the bus.

Eventually, the student was allowed back on the bus, where he is said to have become disruptive and pushed the driver. In return, the driver allegedly grabbed the student by his throat and pinned him against a seat. The student suffered minor injuries, including abrasions and scratches and he may also be charged with harassment. The driver, on the other hand, is expected to appear in court for an arraignment in the coming month.

Being charged with child abuse is a serious matter to contend with, considering the possible consequences if convicted. Although the driver was charged, it does not mean he is guilty of child abuse or any other criminal conduct. Also, documents indicate that he has not been previously charged with any crime in the state of Colorado. If the case goes to trial, the driver will have the right to testify on his own behalf and confront his accusers to preserve his freedom.
