3 mistakes you should never make when you are drunk

Drinking can be a fun way to unwind and relax. If you are careful and keep your behavior under control, it is typically harmless, but alcohol has a way of lowering the inhibitions that usually keep your actions in check. While you may enjoy acting a bit rowdy, there are certain actions you should avoid at all costs if you have been drinking at all. Failure to do so can result in legal and criminal consequences.

According to the National Partnership on Alcohol Misuse and Crime, 5.3 million adults with criminal convictions admitted to drinking at the time of their offense. Rather than becoming a contributor to this statistics, be wise and ensure that you do not make any of the following mistakes.

Trying to drive

Drinking and driving is one of the most dangerous actions you can possibly take. Even if you do not feel that you are drunk, your blood alcohol level could be over the limit, and you may find yourself under arrest and facing criminal charges. An even greater risk is the possibility that you will hurt yourself or another driver.

Arguing or fighting

Bar fights often seem like no big deal when you are in the moment, but much like drinking and driving, they can easily lead to arrest and criminal charges. Getting into a fight or argument at a bar or club could lead to assault or public intoxication charges. If an incident occurs at home, domestic abuse charges could potentially result. Drinking can trigger volatile emotions, but it is imperative you do not become aggressive.

Damaging property

Damaging property is yet another mistake you might end up making while under the influence of alcohol. Vandalism, trespassing or any other destruction of property can possibly incur more than financial consequences — it can land you behind bars.

Alcohol can make for an enjoyable time, but pace yourself. Do not let a few drinks turn into an expensive mistake you will regret.
