Colorado resident arrested for DUI and traffic violations

Being charged with DUI can be one of the most stressful and frightening events in a person's life. The thought of serious consequences that could lead to financial difficulties or even jail time can cause many sleepless nights. Fortunately for those arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Colorado, a DUI charge does not mean an automatic conviction.

Authorities believe that a driver was operating while intoxicated on a recent Sunday morning when an accident occurred. The driver was involved in a crash that happened close to an intersection. Following the crash, the driver was unable to get out of the vehicle and the fire department had to extricate that person. The driver was injured and was taken to a medical facility with serious injuries.

Authorities arrested and charged the driver with driving under the influence and other traffic violations. It is not known what led authorities to believe that the driver was intoxicated and no information on blood alcohol testing has been released. It is also unknown whether the driver has been released from jail.

As most Colorado residents know, the repercussions for being charged and convicted of DUI can be life-altering.  However, being arrested and charged for DUI is still far from a conviction. By obtaining a strong criminal defense, one can ensure that all evidence will be thoroughly evaluated and could even increase the odds of one's charges being dismissed altogether. While DUI charges must always be taken seriously, it is important to remember that all individuals are innocent until and, only if, proven guilty in a court of law.
