Man charged with numerous sex offenses following alleged rape

A man was recently accused of committing crimes across the country. Colorado authorities arrested the man after he was accused of attacking a female escort. He was charged with numerous sex offenses, including three counts of sexual assault.

The man apparently went a month without being located after he allegedly cut off a GPS monitoring device. In early October, the man purportedly met with a female escort and attacked her at a hotel in Denver. Authorities say that he choked the woman until she lost consciousness, then handcuffed and raped her. Afterward, he allegedly held her at gun point and took her money and other items.

Eventually, the handcuffs were supposedly removed, and she was tied to a chair. The woman claims she was threatened that if she told police, he would kill her. On a recent Tuesday, authorities in New York apprehended the defendant after he reportedly fled from a traffic stop. Apart from is sexual assault charges, he was also charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

The defendant is also facing a charge of statutory rape of a child. Any arrest for sex offenses is alarming, especially because defendants are at a great risk of losing a significant portion of their freedom if convicted. However, just because someone has been formally charged with a crime does not necessarily mean that are guilty. Like every other accused individual in our state and across the country, the accused man is guaranteed the presumption of innocence unless and until actually proved guilty by evidence that meets a high burden of proof in a Colorado criminal courtroom.
